I am honored to be serving this
great organization and working with such a talented group of individuals as the chairman for the 2008 Strawberry Festival. Many hours go
into the preparation of this annual event and without these volunteers
my task would be a huge undertaking. Each individual on the
Strawberry Festival Board brings a unique quality and is very much
appreciated.
Growing up within blocks from the official festival
grounds, I always looked forward to the annual Strawberry Festival.
From a young age I respected the volunteers that organized this festival,
and wanted to be a part of this celebration. My Strawberry
Festival Board career started at the age of twenty-one when I was
elected to the Board as Parade Chairman for three consecutive years.
Following that position, I served two years as a voting member for the
Ponchatoula Jaycees. I have also served the Festival Board for
nine years as Treasurer, two years as the Public Relations
Director and one year as the Webmaster.
My parents are Bill and Geraldine Wright, and they
still live in the same house in which I grew up in. I am a
graduate of Ponchatoula High School and I have obtained an Associates
Degree in Accounting. Currently I am employed as a Property
Manager for Smith Properties in Hammond.
I have been involved with the Jaycees since 1984, and
have held many offices though the years. I had the privilege to
serve the Louisiana Jaycees as their 67th State President in 2006.
In January of 2007, I was awarded one of the highest honors by the
Jaycee organization when I was presented a Senatorship. I am
currently a class member of 2008 for Leadership Tangipahoa, and will
finish the course in May.
Please make plans to join us on April 11, 12 & 13,
2008 for the biggest free festival in the state. We will make sure
that there is plenty of music, food, fun, and strawberries.
