Be sure you send your entry form early. Early Registration Deadline February 6, 2009 Door entries taken only if a group is not full. AGE DIVISIONS Boys 0-1 year Girls 2 years Boys 1-2 years Girls 3 years Boys 3-5 years Girls 4-5 years Girls 0-6 months Girls 6-8 years Girls 7-11 months Girls 9-11 years Girls 12-17 months Girls 12-14 years Girls 18-24 months Girls 15-17 years AWARDS Queen and King: Beautiful trophy, rhinestone crown, satin monogrammed title banner. Our Royalty is provided with a beautiful float to ride on during the festival parade, they are introduced on the North stage, Friday, April 3, 2009 at 5:30 p.m; on all stages Saturday, April 4, 2009, immediately following the parade, their picture in the official Strawberry Festival booklet and on next year's forms and flyers. They are also invited to introduce themselves at the Louisiana Strawberry Queen's Pageant in June 2008. Kings and Queens are required to participate in the Strawberry Festival Parade and activities on April 3 & 4, 2009. 1st-4th Alternates will receive trophies. Awards will also be given for prettiest hair, prettiest eyes, best smile, best fashion, and most photogenic. Winners in these categories will receive certificates. STAGE FORMATION X X X Exit 3 2 1 Enter No other pageant selects its young royalty like we do. It is our desire to have royalty who are naturally pretty/handsome and have good personalities. NO PAGEANT WEAR, NO SUNDAY DRESS, NOR MODELING ABILITY IS NEEDED IN OUR 0-11 DIVISIONS. Girls in 0-11 divisions and boys in 0-5 divisions will wear CASUAL WEAR ONLY!!! (Something they would wear to the festival grounds such as: short sets, rompers, sundresses, denim or cotton outfits.) Appropriate hairstyles for girls are pony tails, braids or other simple and casual styles. "Big Pageant" hairstyles ARE NOT appropriate in our 0-11 year old divisions. These young contestants will be judged on facial beauty, personality (not modeling) and overall appearance. Make-up, if worn at all in 0-11 divisions, should be light and used ONLY to enhance beauty. Contestants are not required to do any modeling. While there will be "X's" on the floor; contestants do not have to use them. Very upbeat children's music will be played in our 0-11 divisions competition. POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED FOR "BIG PAGEANT" HAIR, PAGEANT WEAR, SUNDAY DRESS OUTFITS & EXCESSIVE MAKE-UP. There will be a "Hair, Make-Up and Outfit" judge for our 0-11 year old divisions that will judge each contestant and if they feel Hair, Make-Up, or Outfit is inappropriate a deduction of 5 points will be taken from the overall score. In our 12-17 year old divisions, contestants DO NOT compete in casual wear. They may wear Sunday dresses or pageant wear. Dress may be long or tea-length. Dresses should not expose mid-drifts. Dresses, hairstyles, and make-up should be age appropriate. In our 15-17 year old division, each contestant will introduce themselves on stage. They must state their name, age, and where they are from. Other things may be stated, but it is not required. IMPORTANT PAGEANT INFORMATION There is no grace period. Contestants compete in the category coordinating with the age they are the day of the pageant. The 2008 Queens and Kings may not re-compete. They are invited to be presented and help with the crowning. A contestant cannot re-compete in a division for which they have previously won King or Queen. This pageant is restricted to Louisiana residents only. Group sizes are limited. The division is closed when we receive the first 20 contestants' applications. You may enter the day of the pageant if the division is not full. A $10.00 late fee paid in cash or money order only is required. We suggest that you don't wait. Admission will be $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for children 3-12, and free for children under 2. The pageant is registered with the Secretary of State to the Ponchatoula Jaycees and the pageant has been approved by the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival Board as a sanctioned event since 1985. A picture of each contestant may be entered to compete for the most photogenic award along with a $5.00 fee. More than one photo may be entered at $5.00 apiece. Please include information on the application form. If you would like to enter photos, you must bring the picture(s) to the pageant. DO NOT send them in with application. Any size will do and please no frames. You may register up to 30 minutes before your scheduled competition time or earlier if we are not busy with other groups. The contestants do not need to be present at registration. You will simply check in and receive the contestant's number. No group will begin before the scheduled competition time.
