I am honored and blessed to be representing my hometown of Ponchatoula as the Louisiana Strawberry Queen XXXIX. I am one of the eight daughters of Paul & Angela Pevey. The festival has always been the biggest weekend of the year for my family. We are always busy around festival time blending and preparing strawberries for our family business, Paul’s Café, where we sell the festival’s official strawberry daiquiris. Additionally, my family’s roots take me much further back into the Ponchatoula strawberry industry. My great-grandfather is one of the many Drude farmers who contributed to our city’s rise to fame in the strawberry industry. I attend Louisiana State University where I am studying nutrition. I work as a waitress at our family business and enjoy staying healthy through exercise and nutrition, as well as helping other people to do the same. I am excited to travel across our beautiful state of Louisiana, meet many people, and promote our state fruit and festival. I invite you to visit our city of Ponchatoula, “The Strawberry Capital of the World” and “America’s Antique City”, for a taste of true southern hospitality. I especially hope that you will join me for the 2010 Strawberry Festival on April 9, 10, 11 where I know you will have a wonderful time! May God bless you and your family & I hope to see you at the 39th Annual Strawberry Festival! Theresa Pevey Louisiana Strawberry Queen XXXIX
