Aubrey Renee Brumfield
Louisiana Strawberry Queen
Hello everyone, and welcome to the Strawberry Capitol of the World! My name is Aubrey Brumfield. I am the daughter of Rickey and Contina Brumfield of Paulina, Louisiana. I am currently attending Mississippi Valley State University, where I am studying biology with a minor in business.
Being crowned Louisiana Strawberry Queen LIV means more to me than I could ever express. I am humbled to represent the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival and Louisiana’s Strawberry Industry which runs deep in my heart. Being related to a farmer of Tangipahoa Parish (Warner Hall, Greensburg, LA) has given me a different outlook on how important it is for us to support our local farmers. Representing our farmers, who don’t get the recognition they deserve is imperative to my reign.
Although I am not from Ponchatoula, growing up my family attended the festival annually. My older sister (Hayley Brumfield) and I would eat chocolate-covered strawberries and ride rides all weekend long until our stomachs hurt, and our parents forced us to go home. After visiting so many times I fell in love with the camaraderie and the southern hospitality that makes Ponchatoula the sweetest town around.
The Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival isn’t just a weekend party. It’s a celebration rooted in tradition, that was established to celebrate the sweet success of our resilient strawberry farmers. Being a part of this tradition while making history is something that I could have never imagined possible. I find it electrifying that young girls will see me and hopefully strive to be Strawberry Queens themselves one day. After all, it is vital that we continue to blossom our youth into becoming the next generation of advocates and farmers.
Our board members, non-profits, and farmers have worked tirelessly all year long to put on one of the biggest celebrations in Louisiana, so I encourage you to come out April 10th-12th to have the BERRY best time in Ponchatoula!

David Atkins
Strawberry Festival King
Welcome to the 2026 Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival! It is my great honor to serve as your Strawberry King this year. My name is David Atkins, and for more than 35 years I have been proud to call Ponchatoula home. Although not born here, this community quickly became my heart and home when I married my wife, Christie, in 1993. Together we’ve built our lives here, raised three children—Colleen, Blair, and Bradley—and are now blessed with three grandchildren, EmmaLou, Nolan, and Owen.
My love for Ponchatoula and its people has shaped both my professional and volunteer life. I served our country in the Army National Guard as a heavy diesel mechanic before dedicating my career to firefighting—first with the Ponchatoula Volunteer Fire Department and later as a Captain with the Hammond Fire Department. Safety and service have always guided me, whether in emergency response, training others, or helping our community prepare for challenges. After retiring, I continued this mission as a Safety Site Manager and now serve as Fire Administrator for Tangipahoa Parish Rural Fire District 2, working alongside fire chiefs across the parish.
The Strawberry Festival has been a special part of my life for many years. I’ve had the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors for more than 15 years, taking on roles such as Booth Coordinator, Stage Coordinator, Louisiana Marketing Board member, and even Festival Chairman in 2016. Along with fellow members, I helped create our festival’s emergency response system—because just like our farmers and volunteers, safety is always at the heart of what we do.
The Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival is more than just food and fun—it’s a celebration of the farmers who bring us the sweetest berries, the families who pass down traditions, and the community spirit that makes this town so special. It’s about coming together to honor our past, celebrate the present, and inspire future generations to love Ponchatoula the way we all do.
On behalf of my family and the entire festival team, I welcome you to join us in celebrating all that makes our community unique. May your time here be filled with music, laughter, delicious strawberries, and memories to last a lifetime.

Heather Robertson
Strawberry Festival Blossom
My name is Heather Robertson, your 2026 Strawberry Blossom. I was born and raised in Ponchatoula La and went to high school at Ponchatoula High. I was homecoming queen and graduated in 1991. It was here that I met my husband and high school sweetheart Dale Robertson, who was previously King in 2009. My father in law, the late John Roy Robertson who was my sidekick on the farm until he passed in 2012. My mother in law is Mitzi Robertson. My father, Harold Gomez does all of the tractor work, getting all of the fields ready for planting. My mother is Robbie Gomez, she helps out making jam and selling.
When my husband and I first started dating I would go after school to help plant. That’s where it all started. We married in 1995 and started with 5000 strawberry plants. We have grown now to over 30 plus acres and 200 thousand plants. Not only have the fields grown but so has or family. We have four children- Johndale Robertson, his wife Mahalie. Isabella Coker and her husband Jade. Cypress Robertson and his wife Mckailee. Addianna Sticker and her husband Evan. We have six grandchildren all under the age of two- Leighton Bay Coker, Collins Coast Coker, Rustin Roy Robertson, Briggs Hunter Robertson, Everleigh Ann Sticker and River Ryley Robertson.
I take care of everything on the farm with the help of 12-14 guys that are just like family. I, together with the guys we plant, water, pick and sell the strawberries. Most days I’m on the road before daylight until after dark. Selling at the farmers markets, crescent city, Covington and Gretna. Also selling to all of my loyal customers in Ponchatoula across from Paul’s Cafe every day during the season.
I have learned many things over the years of farming. First, the way of old farmers still works. The strawberry gets its name from the farmers putting straw in the rows to keep grass at bay and cover the plants for frost. We now use blanket but have recently discovered that going back to the old way works. Secondly, nothing grown from the ground is easy but it sure is a great reward when you harvest that first flat of berries. Last, but not least. Farming is not for the weak. To do this you must love it. You work by the sweat of your brow every day to bring your customers this sweet, amazing Ponchatoula Strawberry.
Thank you so much to the Strawberry Festival Board and my community for honoring me with this title, your 2026 Ponchatoula Strawberry Blossom. I cannot wait to see and celebrate with everyone on Festival Weekend!

Emily McKneely Matise
Strawberry Festival Grand Marshal
My name is Emily McKneely Matise, and I am the 2026 Grand Marshal. I am a lifelong native of Tangipahoa Parish and a resident of Ponchatoula. I have attended every festival in my 46 years; and sat on my mama’s porch and “played pretend fest weekend” during the Covid years. My grandmother had a strawberry patch, my nieces have served as little strawberry queens, my stepfather was Grand Marshal, and more recently, my mother held the honor of Grand Marshal as well. My in-laws even live on land that was once covered in strawberries. Needless to say, my ties to the Strawberry Festival and industry run strong and deep.
I am the youngest of 3 daughters born to Margaret McKneely Joiner and the late Harry McKneely Jr. I have been married to the love of my life, Danny Matise, for 10 years. I am a proud Aunt/Great Aunt to 11 nieces and nephews, plus one on the way! My greatest blessings are my family and friends.
My career “stemmed” from the year I was Strawberry Queen in 2000. Through travelling all over the state to various fairs and festivals, the door was opened for me to get a job at Louisiana Office of Tourism. A year later, I was offered the chance to come home and represent Tangipahoa Tourism as Sales Director, where I have been employed for 22 years.
I, the 2026 Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival Grand Marshal, truly eat, sleep, and breathe all things strawberry. Making it my personal mission to support our farmers, community, and the festival; I wear at least one strawberry accessory every single day.
I am “berry” humbled and overjoyed to be named Grand Marshal for the 2026 festival. I would like to thank the 2025 Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival board for “picking” me for this honor of a lifetime. I can’t wait to share the passion with you on April 10, 11, and 12, 2026!
